Recycled paper, black metallic leaf, acrylic and Japanese ink on wood, 12 x 9 inches. This piece was started on brown paper that I used to cover surfaces when I paint, and this particular one had silver leaf on it too which made the texture interesting to use. It had a lot of deep green tones underneath and I ended up painting over a lot of it off, but because it was such a beautiful color I left some.
It's moody and dark, but the silver will catch the light beautifully. The brush strokes from high to low are intriguing.
I would say this piece revealed itself through the process of the search from beginning to end. The artist's process sometimes you do not know where you will end up.
I stop when I see balance and when I can hang it in any direction and you will find something new.
2.5 inches birch floating frame is stained black with Japanese ink to match the art. This piece is presently at Lapis Room.
